Blue Tongue Sandwich ELISA Kit for Antigen Detection

Background:
Bluetongue (BT) is an economically important arthropod-borne OIE ‘notifiable’ viral disease of domestic and wild ruminants. Competitive ELISA (cELISA) and indirect ELISA (iELISA) are useful for the detection of group-specific antibodies to BTV and are commonly used for sero-epidemiological. However, the detection of group-specific antibodies in serum does not indicate an active infection or the presence of the virus at the point of investigation. Therefore, the demonstration of viral antigen is important for clinical diagnosis and quarantine of the animals.:
Technology Details:
Since the disease is acute, the detection of antigens is important to diagnose the disease. For this purpose, a sandwich ELISA (sELISA) was developed for the detection of BTV antigen in clinical samples and infected cell cultures using polyclonal antibodies to BTV. A sELISA is rapid, cost-effective, and user-friendly for mass screening of the suspected samples and can also detect viral antigens in an inactivated vaccine preparation. This sELISA can detect all the commonly circulating BTV serotypes in our country with high sensitivity and does not cross-react with other common viruses of small ruminants.
